Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disfunction or Jaw related problems can arise because of motor vehicle accident, trauma due dental work, direct injury to face, chronic teeth clenching and grinding at night, or tension in the neck and face from stress and poor posture.

TMJ disfunction can cause pain in the jaw, reduced mouth opening, and "crackling" or "popping" noises when moving the jaw. Other possible symptoms include earache, ear ringing, headache, dizziness, and difficulty swallowing.
